Snowpocalypse! 2023

So winter is here in full force! The snowpocalypse came to Alaska with three record breaking snows in under two weeks. I’m talking 3.5-4 feet of snow in about 12 days resulting in five snow days for school and the court house where I advocate for kiddos in the Alaska State Office of Child Services closing for two days.
Sooooo much snow removal. Hours and hours of shoveling and snow blowing. Day after day after day. The snow plows bermed in the driveway multiple times with snow the consistency of wet heavy concrete that had to be chopped up with a shovel before the snow blower could relocate it. I’ll tell you what, my snow shoveling muscles were worn out! My massage therapist had a lot to work on in my arms and shoulders. Then the snow stopped and it got wicked cold. We also experienced a bunch of gorgeous vibrant sunsets, sunrises, gorgeous winter landscapes to go with the bitterly cold sub zero temperatures. My mom snapped this picture of me with double gloved giant Simpson hands all bundled up running the snow blower to deal with the huge piles of snow my dad was shoveling off the roof. We were out there for 3 hours that day!
I’ve been daydreaming about warmer weather, sunshine and a relaxing breeze. I would love to be hangin out in a blueberry patch with some MushGnomes! Alas! Alaskan winters are keeping me busy and staying warm is a full time pursuit! We made it to the winter solstice and I am definitely looking forward to the slow increase of daylight hours. Just like I’m looking forward to my upcoming 1st Solo Art Exhibition at the Escondido Arts Partnership-Municipal Galleryand slightly warmer climes in Escondido - So Cal! Hope to see you there!
